Recycled Resin Packaging for Food Products - CMG Plastics

Traditionally, recycled resins were primarily used for non-food, industrial components such as pallets, totes, trays, & larger containers.

However, thanks to improved sorting methods in the recycling stream we are seeing more and more food packaging created with food-grade recycled resins. Additionally, mechanical processing advancements such as co-injection multi-layer injection molding allow for packages to be produced with a combination of both virgin and non-food grade recycled resins. The recycled material component is “sandwiched” between two layers of virgin food-grade material thereby creating a cost-effective food-safe package.
